Synopsis

The Theatre Royal Haymarket becomes the home of the West End’s latest jukebox musical as The Band entertains audiences this Christmas. Bringing together a talented cast of performers, an uplifting story and the music of Take That, it is sure to attract legions of theatregoers to the capital from December.

Written by Tim Firth and directed by Kim Gavin, The Band introduces us to a group of friends, who bonded during their teens thanks to their love of a hit boy band, which took them through thick and then. Nearly three decades on from those days, we meet them again as the band is about to play a big gig in Europe, reuniting these women as adults and showing how some things never change.

The Take That songs performed include Relight My Fire, The Flood and Greatest Day, to name but a few.

Over the years the West End has welcomed many shows that celebrate the work of a famous recording artist and there is still an audience for it as more head to the capital in 2018. The Band, however, has recognition not just because of Take That but the show Let It Shine on the BBC, which located the members of the show’s boy band. All in all, it will undoubtedly turn into the most talked-about musical of the year.

Cast members include Alison Fitzjohn, Emily Joyce, Rachel Lumberg and Jayne McKenna, amongst others, when the show heads to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in late 2018.
