Synopsis

In 2012 audiences in the West End will have another opportunity to pick up theatre tickets and witness what is possibly the most famous musical of them all – “Singin’ in the Rain”. The show is set to begin a run at the capital’s Palace Theatre and it is here that Adam Cooper will take on the role immortalised by Gene Kelly in the 1952 movie original whilst the rest of the cast is made up of Scarlett Strallen, Daniel Crossley and Katherine Kingsley. It is certain to be an enjoyable show and one that proves that audiences still relish in the song and dance numbers from this famous classic.

Adam Cooper has appeared in a wide range of shows over the years and so he brings plenty of experience to the role of Don Lockwood, the character at the heart of “Singin’ in the Rain”. The plot focuses on the Golden Era of Hollywood and, in particular, the moment in which the silent movies began to be replaced by the ‘talkies’. Lockwood is a star of the silent movie era – someone who is romantically linked to one of his co-stars - and he sees big change for the Hollywood on the horizon.

So as an abundance of new musicals arrive in town, “Singin’ in the Rain” is sure to stand out as it replaces “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” at the Palace Theatre with a run that begins on Wednesday 15th February 2012 (with previews from Saturday 4th February 2012).
