Synopsis
“Crazy for You” heads to the Novello Theatre this October with a run taking it to July 2012 and it does so on the back of a successful appearance at the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park in the summer of 2011. The production boasts a director in Timothy Sheader and musical direction from Gareth Valentine, whilst also boasting a popular story that has won over fans since it was first seen by those with theatre tickets back in 1992.
The story focuses on the character of Bobby Childs in a plot that looks at love and following dreams. Childs relishing in his own dream of becoming a dancer on the stage and it is his determination that drives him towards this goal. But there’s more to it than this and he also becomes embroiled in a romance along the way – one that takes him on a memorable journey. But it being a musical the show also features some stand out songs from “Nice Work if You Can Get It” to “I’ve Got Rhythm”.
When “Crazy for You” first appeared on the stage in 1992 it was billed as a new Gershwin Musical Comedy and this is because it was an adaptation of Gershwin’s 1930 musical “Girl Crazy”. It would be a huge success in the 1990s and with Tony and Olivier Awards under its belt it is certain we will be seeing this show again and again in a London theatre.
“Crazy For You” is at the Novello Theatre from Saturday 8th October 2011 to Saturday 28th July 2012.
