Synopsis

There isn’t a person in the world who has not heard of Michael Jackson, the late King of Pop who was possibly the most famous person on planet, selling millions of records around the world and enjoying a long career as the best singer and dancer to take to the stage.

The Lyric Theatre in London’s West End is the home to the musical celebration of the performer, presenting exciting renditions of many of his most famous hits from his days in the Jackson 5 to his decades-long career as a solo superstar. Thriller Live is a spectacle that is said to live up to the live shows of the famous singer and present a showcase that is unrivalled anywhere else.

Thriller Live started life as a touring musical that achieved widespread success in locations such as Scandinavia and countries like Germany and Holland. It eventually found its way to the Lyric Theatre in January 2009 and added London’s West End as a location that continued to cemented its popularity.

Michael Jackson was still a popular draw even in the months leading up to his death in June 2009. His residency at London’s O2 Arena This Is It had sold out well in advance of its start date and whilst it never went ahead it demonstrated his lasting appeal. Jackson had spent decades at the top of his game with a back catalogue of records that sold an unprecedented 750 million units worldwide and an album in the form of Thriller that remains the best selling record of all time. He was an intrinsic part of popular culture and an icon that would inspire stars for decades to come.

His songs can be heard everywhere, with plenty of examples that make their way to the stage in Thriller Live, including Earth Song, Billie Jean, Show You The Way To Go, She's Out Of My Life, Rock With You, I Want You Back, ABC, Can You Feel It, Ben, Dirty Diana, Beat It, Man in the Mirror, I'll Be There and possibly his most famous song of all - Thriller.

Thriller Live is the brainchild of Adrian Grant a man who created the film Michael Jackson – A Visual Documentary, with Gary Lloyd offering his hand at directing and choreographing, with additional moves devised by LaVelle Smith Jnr and Kerys Nathan. It is an unbeatable sensation that cannot be matched – a place for Jackson fans to relive classic performances from his life. When the singer died last year it became the place to witness a show closer to the singer’s own style than any other, with an outpouring of grief taking place at the Lyric Theatre on the day of his passing.

Thriller Live continues at the Lyric Theatre with bookings continuing to mid-2011 at the time of writing.
