Million Dollar Quartet
Noel Coward Theatre
Synopsis
A great new musical work is currently sweeping the West End with a fever for rock and roll! Million Dollar Quartet takes you back to the good old days of the golden age of music, when a classic performance meant setting a piano on fire or inciting a jailbreak. This show portrays the exceptional personalities of Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis, on the day that they all got together to perform and record. Dramatising the characters and recreating the music, this show is a must for all fans of true rock music, as well as those with a curiosity for what their heroes might have been like.
These wonderful personalities are brought to life by four fine acting talents. Elvis Presley is played by Eddie Clendening, a man who has many true rock and roll credentials, having performed with such greats as Pat Cupp, Billy Lee Riley Joe Clay, and the real life Jerry Lewis. Lance Guest is set to take the role of Johnny Cash, something he is now very familiar with, having played this character in every production of Million Dollar Quartet so far. Levi Kreis plays the larger than life personality of Jerry Lee Lewis, for which he won a Tony Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for the Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical. Jared Mason, an award winning composer and performer, plays Carl Perkins.
The show is due to feature some of the greatest songs in pop music history! These names have penned and performed some of the most exciting music ever written, and the chance to see it compiled into one thrilling show is really quite something. The songs include such classics as ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘Real Wild Child’, ‘Matchbox’, ‘Who Do You Love?’, ‘Folsom Prism Blues’, ‘Memories are Made of This’, ‘That’s All Right’, ‘Brown Eyed Handsome Man’, ‘Down By The Riverside’, ‘Sixteen Tons’, ‘My Babe’, ‘Long Tall Sally’, ‘Peace in the Valley’, ‘I Walk The Line’, ‘I Hear You Knockin’, ‘Great Balls of Fire’, ‘Hound Dog’, ‘Ghost Riders’, ‘See You Later Alligator’ and ‘Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On’.
This is the closest you are ever going to get to having ‘been there’. Million Dollar Quartet is a fabulous show that gives you the kind of excitement that only rock and roll can bring. Don’t miss out on this trip down memory lane to the days when rock was king.
